Dear Pinelle and Pinelli, today I’m in Milan and it’s a really dreary day. Like all of you, I woke up this morning to the news of David Bowie’s death.
After some hesitation, I decided to put off the post I had planned for today, and dedicate these few lines to my memories of the great Thin White Duke.
I had the honour of meeting him on the set of “Gunslinger’s Revenge“. It was 1998 and I felt mesmerised by his presence. I was working with one of the greatest rock musicians of all times… and I was so nervous I couldn’t even look him in the eye. I’ll never forget his voice, his friendly and elegant manner. It was really an unforgettable experience.
Three years ago in London I couldn’t miss the fabulous David Bowie exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. I was with my friends, and it was a journey through his images, sounds and music… I was so excited… And having met him, made it a completely different experience, so unique and special… He was a real artist. One of those that you rarely get the chance to meet.
I’d like to sign off with one of his quotes I always remember:
“To me, music is colour. Not a painting. My music enables me to paint – myself” David Bowie
